That seems to be the only object in the assembly that is not OEM. I know its trivial, but give the stock 250 springs a try. Possibly the spring lengths are different and even though they are stiffer they're not long enough to actuate the clutch properly? You never know. Also what kind of lever free play are you running. I imagine you know to do this, but sometimes it takes stating the obvious to notice things.
