Hello guys,

I'm going to look at a KX60 tomorrow morning for my kid.

The advert states that its a 2002 model but I'm not so sure as the price he's asking is rather low (£600!).

It has supposedly got new front tyre/piston/rings...

What could I look at to check that the year of the bike is actually 2002.

Cheers.

Steering head?

Is that the part of the frame furthest forward?

Sorry for the naive questions, I've only ever owned road-bikes... I think this is where a road bike would have it's frame number.

Will it specifically state 2002 or 02 on it or would I have to work it out from the serial no.?

Also, is there anything I should look out for when buying this bike? what is prone to go wrong?

Fork seals?
excessive smoke?
piston slap?
bent frame?

Cheers,

John

The serial # is the only real way to tell with the KX 60 it's been the same bike no upgrades just graphics/paint scheme changes since 1985 when it came out the first year with liquid cooling! From a techincal stand point I don't think it really matters what year just in terms of price. The serial # is on the head tube area usually behind the front # plate.
