The Off Road Vehicle Site Management Project is funded through March 30, 2005. DUTIES This position plans, organizes and supervises activities for Off Road Vehicle (ORV) trail systems in Walker Valley, and performs education and enforcement duties at Walker Valley and Reiter Trails. Supervises, plans, organizes and directs various ORV projects in a safe and efficient manner. Coordinates projects and works with volunteers, ORV crew, WCC, contractors and DNR consultants. Serves as the region Education and Enforcement officer, providing training and information to ORV clubs, recreationists and local officials. Coordinates and assists volunteers on a local level in patrolling ORV use areas. Deters violation of the law by conducting vehicle patrols, giving verbal warnings, and issuing citations. WHO MAY APPLY This recruitment is open to anyone who meets the requirements. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Eligible applicants must have a Bachelor's degree involving major study in forestry, recreation, natural resource management, or closely related field AND one year of professional experience in natural resource management or recreation/public use management. SPECIAL NOTES This position will spend 90% of the time in the field and will require arduous physical activity, including lifting of up to 60 pounds and operating power augers, chainsaws and other power equipment. This position also requires the physical ability to be proficient at riding motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles. Work hours will need to be very flexible to attend evening meetings, as well as oversee weekend activities.
