$800 is too much but they will probably get it from an unsuspecting buyer who wants something cheap and thinks they are getting a deal. They probably know they will get $800 from somebody. I am guessing looking at it the linkage bearings, wheel bearings and probably the steering stem bearings are all shot as well. I would be shocked if the bottom end doesn't need to be rebuilt on something that old. Carb probably needs jets completely cleaned or replaced. I knew a guy with a KTM300 who literally never rode it b/c he was working harescrambles so much and the bottom end actually got rust in it. No telling what has happened internally on that thing. The 90's bikes are great engine wise and the 96 KX is really really good and smooth (I almost bought one back in early 2000) but you will need to sink some money in the suspension which may not be a bad thing, especially if you want to do it yourself. RaceTech should still have some good video's on re-valving these. I have seen early 2000 250'sin the $1500-$2000 range in good condition in the Southeast and we have a lot of demand b/c we can ride year round. On a local board last year there was a 2009 YZ250 tricked out and in great condition for $3200: 2009 YZ265 Now take 13 years off, add all the work you need to do to the KX and you can see that $800 is too high... but I don't know the market in Canada. I have been to Portland and Beaverton and there are some good dealers there (or were a long time ago when I stopped in). I haven't ridden there but did a lot of window shopping. It may be worthwhile to check to see what you can do buying over the border? I don't know the rules so I may be wrong on that advice. Ivan
