How to make 4Strokes Street legal in NJ

As everyone who lives in NJ knows, the only way to get to your favorite riding spot is by roads or knowing a buddy w/ a trail out of his back yard. Other than that your taking a risk.


I am looking to make my 00 KLX 300 Street legal. Can anyone help me in knowing exactly what I need to do in NJ to get my bike street legal. As of now I know I need to do the following:

D.O.T Front/Rear tires
Mirror for handelbars
Rear brake light restrictor
HORN and horn mount.

If I missed anything to get the bike regristered please let me know. I would like to get this taken care of during March 18-28th so I need to get a move on, getting parts and putting them together.


If anyone from NJ has their bike regristered please let me know how you went about doing so.

you also need a highbeam indicator for the headlight and the horn has to be able to work without the bike running. I will let you know if I remember anything else

oh I believe you need to somehow ad a neutral indicator light also.
