I race a air cooled 510 husky and cylinder the head gets very hot 120 deg. i am informed this is normal . the honda xr/xl 500 engines does not suffer quite so much from this problem. does any one know what causes this. it is stock apart from a aluminum liner in the barrel

I think that 120C is a normal temperature. Air-cooled 2-stroke cylinder heads run 450F
The heat from all that power has to go somewhere.
