Hi all, bike is a 99' KX250, on the parts diagram there are 2 different headgaskets listed. The standard one is listed as T=0.26 and the option is T=0.46
Does this refer to the thickness? and are they talking in millimeters? what is the point of having the 2 different thickness gaskets?
cheers.

I think you are correct. You can control to some degree the compression ratio by using a different gasket. You might need to use race gas or a race/pump gas blend with the thinner gasket. But you might not. For serious race applications, I'm guessing the thinner gasket is the logical choice to start with. You are also probably right about the millimeters being the measurement referred to in the numbers.

I've seen that before on KX's.

Power difference with the thinner gasket will be most noticeable at the lower end of the rpm range. I'd go with the thin one, especially if it is the stock part for that year.
