So, there's a new track being built right here in Norman that the owner told me should be open in just a little more than a week. I live here in Norman, so I'm absolutely stoked about there being a motocross track literally 4 miles away from my house. If you have ever driven through this area on I-35 and saw that National Go-Kart track on the east side of the interstate, just south of the river (directly east of Riverwind Casino), then you know where the new track is. The owner of the Kart track decided to add a mx track, mini's track, and even a sand-drag strip, so he is definitely making that place a racing epicenter.

Check out their website when you get the chance!

Alright, the place officially opened this past Saturday, June 26th, and it got a lot of mixed reviews.

Pro's:

- The jumps are plentiful
- Good, well thought out rhythm sections
- Plentiful parking and easy to get to
- Good variety of jumps with tabletops, camel-humps, step-up/down, and some alternating sets of whoops (including sharp dirt sets, and loose sand sets... Variety=Cool)
- Although on the short-end of outdoor tracks, it has a lot of variety packed into a smaller package. You won't find any straights without an obstacle of some kind..

Con's:

- $15 bucks per bike with a $5 spectator fee, as of now there are no plans for yearly passes or memberships.
- Quads are allowed
- The jumps aren't quite dialed in yet, they need better and more prominent lips
- The lines and berms don't go together that great so finding a good line/flow is difficult
- The track is fairly short and compact for an outdoor track.

Final judgment:

If you live in this area it will be a great track to have close by, but as of now it is not a destination type of track. The good thing is that within one hour drive of this location you have many different riding areas with incredibly different styles and types of riding, so it will be a great additional location to a rich in resources riding region. Take into consideration Crossbar Ranch, RHORP, WHORP, Reynard Raceway, Moto City Race Park in Blanchard, Cooperland and the Stillwater 500 in Stillwater, Guthrie Motocross Park, Crosstimbers Off-Road Park at Lake Stanley Draper, and Angle Ridge in El Reno; Each one of these spots are an hour drive (a little more for the Stillwater Tracks, and about 1 1/2 hours from Ponca City Ambucs Nationals Track) from this new track in Norman so it makes for a great central location to an awful lot of great riding areas.

Cheers...
