I was wondering if anyone can provide some insight into my ignorance.

New 2002 300EXC...bye the way never had hydraulic clutch before....replaced stock hose with steel braided from Enduro Engineering.....properly bled the stock fluid and replaced with 5w fork oil...

Problem: engine wont free wheel with clutch pulled in...the bike has been ridden once...are the plates just sticking together? Should I crank it in neutral and warm it up...also I noticed on my first ride that it was harder than heck to find neutral...is this normal for hydraulic clutches?

Strick....basically the original hose was snapped and replaced.

When the new hose was installed I basically started with the plastic syringe on he bleed valve drawing suction...all the while feeding new fluid from the top pumping it through the system...as expected it bled off a good amount of air and original fluid. Repeated the procedure until all air was removed and a constant flow of new fluid could be drawn out of the bleed valve...

You probably still have trapped air.

Ditto - back bleed.

I was ssooooo frustrated the first time I bled a hydraulic clutch!
