Carb Tuning

Thanks to everyone that posted when I was having engine problems with my XR100.
Got that sorted out, new coil condenser and points.

The bike runs great with the exception of idle and up to ¼ throttle. Runs a little rough. from the plugs it seems rich on the fuel but nothing the air screw can fix.

The bike will idle rough and run rough when putting along. If I crank it open fast it dies.
If I open it up slowly – it takes off with pretty good power.

Also when at 1/8 to ¼ throttle, the bike seems to change RPMs on its own. kinda goes up for a bit then dies back down.

I was wondering if the float level could cause this. Any comments would be appreciated.

Checking the float level should be the first thing you do before attempting to change the jetting.
