My 2000 CR250 goes through fork seals like most bikes go through rear tires. It doesn't matter if I replace them or if a shop does.

I need new ones now, and a guy just told me yesterday that a buddy of his had the same problem and used seals with a Suzuki part number and they've lasted all summer.

Has anyone heard of this? Why would the seals for the Showas on the CR and the Showas on the RM be different -- is this normal??

Thanks.

Sometimes the seals are a different spec , sometimes they have a 3rd wiping lipor stronger spring , I bet thats what he got now. Check your bushings ,they dont last forever. GL

The bushings have been replaced three times since the bike was new. The last time was two seal changes ago or about 20 rides.

Check your tubes for scratches or burrs that might be tearing the seal as well.

I have the original seals in my 2000. I had to disassemble and clean them once in the past two years to stop a leak. I learned the hard way that it isn't a good idea to let mud dry on your lower tubes...it quickly lodges in the seals and causes a leak.
