Frank Nye from Engines Only ( www.xr100.com ) is developing products for the new CRF150R and he posted this dyno run of a bone stock 150 with 3 hours on it. It's pretty impressive stock.

He also posted a number of dyno charts showing different aircooled XR & TTR engine kits he builds. It's interesting to compare the output of the stock CRF150R versus some these aircooled engines he builds.

For those who don't know Frank Nye, he has been building super trick flat track and supermoto XR100s and TTR125s for years. He's one of the really good guys in the business and he knows his stuff. His Outlaw Series pipes are head and shoulders above the usual chrome plated crap that comes of the big name companies.

It will be interesting to see what he comes up with for the little red hot rod.

Here's an example of some of Frank's handiwork.

If the AMA puts them in the same class I think it's going to take an awfully good rider on a two-stroke 85 to outrun this bike.

Based on just stock output of the 150, I would think putting them in the same class with the 105cc two-stroke super-minis would be more appropriate, than having them run heads up with 85cc two-strokes.

We have two of them running in the Little Ladies class right now. The one girl had not won a moto this season over the first place rider all season when they were 85 to 85. She won both last weekend with her CRF150R.

Indeed.

With that torque curve, it seems it could ride itself.

Interesting that on Nye's dyno, the CRF150 takes a big dive a 12,500 rpm. On the RD dyno, it look like it continues to make usable power to 14,500 rpm.

From about 10k - 12k, the 85s are stronger. Everywhere else the little thumper rules. Besides MX, it looks like this engine will be very usable for cross country racing and trail riding.

Holy cow you ain't kiddin'!

Honda did their homework. I'm betting the Yamaha will be to the CRF150R as the YZ450F is to the CRF450R -- a tad more violent and more suited to the veteran mini rider.

All I know is I have no interest in getting an 85. No interest either in spending $$$$ to modify a 50cc Honda pitbike to make it fit and perform for a full size adult (6' 200lbs with bad knees).

But I would LOVE a big wheel CRF150R! Put in stiff springs and I could have a blast on that thing.

Im for sure getting an 2007 CRF-150R. We've had so many problems with my 1999 CR-80R that were done with it. Maybe this bike will give me the competitive edge i need to compete with other racers. Also i could use the extra weight for a good workout, The 80's are so light to me now i dont have any problems pushing them throught the trails

Honda is listing 165lbs as the dry weight for the 150R, and I think the dry weight on the TTR250 is 249 lbs. Definitely a little red rocket. ;)
