I bought this on a certain online auction site.. it was described as a new wiseco hot rods crankshaft assembly that was just opened for the picture.

Here is the condition I received it in.

The crank weels have some dents

the flywheel side is boogered up from a puller
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v695/jar944/DSC01107.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

and there are markings from the crank being installed in bearings

Has anyone ever received a "NEW" crank that was in similar condition

i suppose thats possible but it was advertised as new, and the thrust clearence is .027 that seems on the high side to me. i got about .003-.004 runout when i mounted it between centers in my lathe.. the boogered up end may have something to do w/ that though. i need to find another waw to check the runout.

what's it for? the bearing mark and the little ding wouldn't bother me - and the boogered end not so much as long as the threads are OK - seems to me maybe they simply rebuild the crank with a hot rods kit re-using the old crank halves. call wiseco and see what their tolerance is for clearance at the thrust washers.

it's for a 02 yz250. and your right i do need to call wiseco, but if i remember correctly they were just the distributor for the hot rod line(i may be way off on that) i need to find a set of V-blocks to double check the runout. i thought the hotrod cranks were supposed to be trued to .001 at the most

well i just called wiseco and as I thought they were the exclusive distributor for hot rods. They have since parted ways and are now not affiliated with them. i asked and they have no contact number either. So does anyone know who actually manufactured the hot rod line?

the problem with using the centers is the boogered center hole, it's actually mushroomed inward. it's hard to tell in the pic but it's really mashed. i cleaned it up a bit by hand w/ a center drill but it's less then ideal.

the area between the red circles was pushed inward

That is not a new crank PERIOD. Hot Cranks are all new parts.

I know this will come as a HUGE shock to some, but people sell used parts as new on fleece-me- bay all the time. People call up all the time asking if we have any "empty" Hot Cams boxes or other name brand parts boxes we can sell them.

All Wiseco is likely to tell you is , if you didn't but it from an authorized Wiseco dealer, Caveat Emptor ;)

Hopefully you can get a refund.

yeah..all i really wanted to ask them was if they were new crankwheels on the new crank assemblys.

oh well i'll see what the seller is going to do he has 100% feedback and if that dosent work theres the fraud aspect for the cc company....thats the whole reason i never gave them access to my bank acount...i would have no recourse if it went bad

Hot Cranks come with all new parts. The crank you bought has clearly been used.

yeah was 99.9% positive it was used. when i opened the box i went from yea new parts to mother fu&*#r i hate people, in about 2 seconds. however before i got to the point of demanding things i wanted to make sure i knew all the pertant information on wiseco cranks. I knew the crank wheels had been used.
The seller emailed me tonight and said that it was installed in a 2000 yz and then removed before running when the primary gear didnt fit (realized it was the wrong crank)....if i'd of known that i never would of purchased it....oh well now i just need to respond by telling him i want my money back and see where it goes from there
