kx 450

did kawasaki make a 450 2 stroke in the mid 80's?

I started racing in 1987 and at that time I don't remember ever seeing anything like that at the track. At least not with the KX designation. I was pretty heavy into bikes at that time so I think I would have heard about it, but I could be wrong. Have no clue about anything prior to that. Hope that helps at least a little. :blah: ;)

back up 10 years, early 70's. i think they released the KX450 in 74.

Cool bikes, the specs on the F 12 shows 38 HP at 85,500 RPM, too bad its a misprint or that would be great. :yikes:

I remember seeing one on the dealers showroom floor in 75/76 and he said it was made of glass back then. They were kind of a hard sell and the 400's of 75 were a much better bike. The 450 was a cool looking bike but I was a KX250 rider and the 400/450's of that time were not for me. I did buy a YZ400 in 78 though, go figure. The early 80's brought out the KX420 and the KX500.

It might have made 38hp but 85,500 rpm! WOW!!! :yikes:
