I have used this system for the last ten years and I really like it. The fanny pack kinda sits on the seat when you are seated so you don't feel any weight. It also has a lot of room for stuff. I carry my tools in a rear fender bag and my food and first aid in the fanteen.
The only two draw backs about it are the bladders seem to break/leak easy, and the more water you drink, the more you have to tighten the waist belt to keep it from falling down. I use a 70oz camelback bladder and so far so good. The fanteen replacements are $12. For me it is worth it to put up the two little quirks because I wear a radio on my back and don't like having the extra wight hanging off my shoulders with the back pack types.
