Urgent Help Needed Electrical Timing Rm250

Hi all,

Please could any of you help ?

I have an RM250 1993 'p' model which doesn't seem to have a very good spark. When i took off the left hand side cover (electrical side) the bolts were loose !!! there seem to be timing marks on the plate and engine and there is a large slot to turn it back and forward.

So my question is - are the two mark standard timing marks ? can i advance and retard the timing and which way does what ?

Pretend the marks are at the 9 o'clock position. down retards and up advances.

the marks are standard timing IIRC
