why are stock spring rates so messed up

According to the race-tech web site my rear spring is for a 170lb rider which is fine. But the stock spring rate for the forks according to the chart is for a 120lb rider(.381kg/mm). The spring rate for 170lb rider is .418kg/mm. Isn't that strange? I have a 1991 YZ250

Back then it was very common for bikes to use very light fork springs and heavy low-speed damping....not that it worked..... :yeehaw: They made a rich man of Paul Thede (Race-Tech) and George Quay of Pro-Action.... :eek:

LOL!!!!! You know guys, It just depends on whos spring tester you trust.. I've learned the the OEM is the only one worth listening too..
