I dont know how the powervalve setup is on most bikes, but on my YZ125, it seperates right in the middles and is alligned by two or three pins, when its in and i open the right ride caseing, i can moce the valve in and out because it seperates at the middle, is this normal, i didnt notice it before? what keeps it in place and stable?

I don't know about YZs but I think on my sons RM there is a small washer that holds it in place.Maybe someone with YZ experiance can help you more?

There are two alignment pins and the two power valve halves are held together by a socket head cap screw which screws in from the left side. You won't see it seperately on the microfich as the valve is available as an assembly only. IRONDOG

We take the valves out and clean them every time we have the cylinder off on my YZ 125 (usually every 10-20 hours).

I attached the '01 YZ 125 powervalve assembly diagram - not sure if it's about the same as your YZ or if it will help with your question.

The part #16 is your powervalve and it is held together by a bolt that links the two halves together. If your two halves are not tight against each other, you have a problem. Either the bolt just got loose, or it broke in the hole. Get a machine chop to help you out to remove the broken bolt because it is sometimes hard to remove steel surrounded by soft aluminum. I find my Yamaha diagrams at yamahaoftroy.com

Another site for diagrams (very good for Yamaha and Honda)

www.dgy.com (then go to online parts finder)
