YZ250 vs. CR250

Yesterday I got bored and decided to tryout my pure stock 2002 CR250 vs. my heavly modified 86 YZ250 and here is how it went:

0-60: YZ 4.5sec (checked with stop watch)
0-60: CR same give or take a few miliseconds

Top Speed: YZ 95mph (43tooth sproket) (checked with GPS)
CR 86mph (stock gearing) (GPS)
Does this sound correct? The CR gets to 80 before the YZ, but the YZ has more top. This sounds off. Do you think that a dirtbike does 4.5 seconds to sixty? This sounds fast. But, that's what it said on the stop watch. I'm not sure if I belive the GPS either..

What do you think a dirtbike would do to sixty? 4.5 sounds fast..

The top speed figures sound a little off, but the 0-60 time isn't all that bad. I remember reading a magazine article a few years ago that said all the 250s had a 0-60 time in the 4 second range. On the road the bike is definately faster than on the dirt, though. As for top speed, I'd say a 250 with stock gearing would pull anywhere from 75 to 80 MPH. There was a speed tester on the road next to my driveway about a month or so ago, and my 2001 CR250 pulled off 76 the first time and 77 the next. I'd say that sounds about right.

i want one of those police speed checker things to be set up. they used to be all over the place since i got my new bike i haven't seen one-figures. i wanna see how fast it is.

I think those top speed figures sound right from what I've heard and read in magazines. I read last year when the 2001's came out that the tops speed of the 125's was 69(slowest), and 72(fastest), and the 250's was like 84(slowest), and 86/87(fastest).

Although 95 sounds really fast, but if he doesn't have stock gearing then maybe. The XR 650 went like 98 or 99 and that was the fastest bike of 01 from what I read.

I double checked it, it is still at 93-95mph every time. But, it also doesn't get to the top as quick as the CR. It is geared way down, I belive it has a 43 on the back when 53 or is it 50? It does seem to be a good 10mph faster than the CR though.
