a nice sharp "PING"....actually I say that more than just in jest. What is your purpose? Are you building a wheel from scratch or maintaining what you have? In my opinion its a common mistake to simply tighten your spokes blindly or set them all to the same tension (if you have a tension-meter or spoke torque wrench) without checking for true at the same time on a stand - ask any true wheel engineer and they will tell you a true wheel with evenly tensioned (NOT equally) spokes is ideal.
Just maintaning stock wheels.
I have have major problems with aftermarket wheels which were grossly overtorqued. Just want to make sure spoke tension is in the ballpark
