1980 xr80 problem :[

hey i have a 1980 xr80 that i absolutely love, but one day it was working, and the next it wasnt. the main problem is that when i kick start it, it idols for about 5 seconds, then cuts off, also, in that 5 seconds if i try to give it any gas it also shuts off. can anyone diagnose this problem for me?

-the spark plug is good
-i cleaned the carbourator just in case

Clean the gas tank, and fuel petcock. That would be my first suggestion.

Or floats stuck closed. Definately sounds like it's starving for fuel.
