i recently traded for a CR125. its on a 1988 frame but is a 2002 motor. it ran great when i brought it home yesterday just didnt idle. figured common 2 stroke bike. so i went riding today andit bogged down and the back wheel locked up. waited a couple minutes tried again fired right up clicked into 1st. bike picked me up and i switched into 2nd. end of 2nd the bike bogged and wheel locked up again. waited a couple minutes and went to kick. kick start didnt move. put all my wieght on it and i got it to move. kicked again fired up. bogged again. now i cant free the kick start.

i tried switching into first and moving it. (how the tire should move a little) didnt budge. but while it was still in 1st gear i went to squeeze the clutch and the clutch didnt work.

so i was told either i ran out of oil and seized the engine up. or i need new rings and a clutch.

any help?

i traded that broken RM250 i had. great trade eh? :|

but any help would be good.

i also read about fuel in the crankcase?

and also taking WD40 and spraying some into the spark hole and freeing the rings?

please and thanks :)

You need to take it apart. I would start with the cylinder and then the clutch. Any hope of WD40 fixing this is ill founded, you've got serious engine trouble.

well i tore it apart. the cylinder and piston checked out. still cant kick it. i can switch gears. put it into its highest gear and pushed and the piston moves. so some people think its the kick start gears? any suggestions or ideas on how to determine the problem? thanks

you can make it move in the highest gear cause it cuts the ratio down making less effort for you while exerting the same force on the crank. This sounds like you probably dont have broke gears because it will turn with no noise or grinding correct? Can you move the connecting rod back and forth with your hand with ease?

no the piston rings and everything else are okay, i took the gears ut and they look fine. pressure plate, clutch basket, everything looks okay. when the gears and everything were in there yes i put it into the highest gear and i could push it and the piston would move with no grinding or anything like that. it is still seized but i could move it a little more when i took the cylinder off. any ideas?

sorry for such a late response. i had to put the bike on hold because of the holidays and me being sick.

Remove the shifting shaft, set the tranny to neutral, make sure the spring loaded detentes are holding the shift drum and the shift star is in proper place. Line the shift shaft up and put it back together. See if its free? If the tranny jumped or was set out of alignment, it will do strange things. Shift odd and bind up are 2 of them. Vintage Bob

Taking the basket off makes it a lot easier to check. Its hard, to impossible with the clutch on some bikes. Having access to the detentes/shifting star is the question. Make sure its in neutral when you align the marks, double sure. I hope this is all it is. Vintage Bob
