Hi all can I ask for a bit more help.I'm all ready to do the piston and even bought the on line manual but i'm still not sure about the kip activator rod, when I undo it and then do it up again where do I support it I was told that you pull the rubber boot back and fine a flat section on the rod tube about half way down where you need to hold it with grips, but the manual shows you supporting it with a spanner near the KIP valve head.
Can some one be kind I tell me which one is right.
Thanks I hate to ask and look dum but I dont want to break any thing.
Thanks Jono

Jono,
On my son's 2001, (just did the top end last night) there is a flat about half way down the shaft. I think a 7/32 wrench fits it, if I remember correctly. Slide the rubber boot down and you should see it. The pawl nut is torqued to 8 ft-lbs so it's not too hard to remove. Remember, the threads on that shaft are backwards. I also rotated the shaft a little before applying any torque to make sure I wasn't putting any stress on the retainer pin at the bottom.
