Evening All,

I have recently purchased a CR250 (non runner) as a project bike. The problem is that the conrod lower bearing is totally seized. My question is does anyone know if it means the entire crank needs replacing or can I get away with just buying a conrod kit?

I have had a looked around the crank and it appears to be fine but cannot tell anymore without having it split.

Cheers Ian

Chances are with a rebuild it will be fine, but wont know till you get it apart. If i was in your position i would save the machining time, and chance of failure, and just buy a hot rod crank.

FWIW, the OEM Honda crank/con rod assemblies are often priced pretty close to the aftermarket Wiseco bits, and lower than the OEM prices for other brands. Service Honda is across the pond from you, but their prices are usually very good on CR parts, and a new crank might not cost you much more than a rebuild.

Usually the parts and labor for a proper rebuild exceed the cost of a new unit. Look around at all the options before buying.
