my son has a kx 85 and i need a new chain and the chain and sprockets are not stock . the chain looks smaller than the one on his 03 suzuki rm 85 (420) i dont have the chain but i have numbers of the sprocket

1423-52
7075-T6

i know the # 52 is how many teeth are on the sprocket
? is i dont know what style chain it should take

not sure if a 420 will work

You should never just buy a chain..

If the chain is worn the sprockets are too.

Just get the stock sizes, you'll be fine.

I believe they are 420 stock.

sprocket and chain are fairly new i think i had the chain to tight

just dont know if a 420 chain will work

I don't know of a smaller chain than a 420.

Seriously though, if the chain was too tight, and it wore out. It wore out the sprockets too.

But it's your kid. Do what you feel is right.

For some reason I think the rm used the 428 chain in the more newer units. Anyways, it should say it in your manual.

correct i bought a 420 tonight and remembered that the rm was a bigger stronger 428

i think kx is the only 85 using a 420
