RM 250 Maintenance

I recently purchased a 2000 RM 250 and I was wondering what I should check to make sure that nothing is wrong with it? I am not too familiar with 2 strokes. How and how often should I change the gear oil and what should I use? After a ride it seems to leak a little I dono if its gas or oil - looks dark. Is this normal? Please provide to me some legitimate advice/tips. Thanks

I usually change my oil every other ride. nothing should be leaking. where is it leaking from?
