Things are looking good. We have 20-25 DRNers committed, and 15-20 random spodes coming also.

We had close to 50 people show up last year.

It'll take about 17 hours on a Honda XR100. Why not try a car or truck or something? You could get there in 4.5 hours or less that way. :)

Drive Time From Atlanta to Monster Mountain

I've driven to MM a few times in the past year. I ususally run between 75 and 80 on the Interstate and it takes me right at 3 hours from up in the Cumming area. It's probably only 2 1/2 hours from downtown Atlanta once you get on the Interstate.

Designated Meeting Spot For DRN Group

Since it sounds like the track will be open to the general public while we are there, can we all agree on a designated parking area for DRN members attending the Southeastern Spodefest?

It would be great if we could all put some faces together with names we've seen online...

Could I suggest the area just past the bathrooms/concession stand near the entrance to the track / starting gate area. It should be pretty easy for everyone to find. Just follow the main road to the track until you pass the white buildings on your right then just look for a place to park. I will be arriving between 8am and 9am on Friday morning in a Black Chevy Suburban pulling an enclosed Black trailer... Should be easy to spot me once we get parked!

Last year everyone camped in the bottom of the bowl. I got there late Friday afternoon, and everyone was already set up. It worked out pretty well.

We had a serious problem with flatulent beavers last year. I'm thinking we should choose a spot that's not so close to the bathrooms. :moon:

We'll be easy to spot. Here's a picture of Gomer.

So will this be the same meeting spot for Saturday? We (WristTwist and myself) will not be at the track till Saturday morning. We will be at the Holiday Inn on Friday night though say around 9 ish!

Designated Meeting Spot for Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Julius Pleaser stated "Last year everyone camped in the bottom of the bowl"

Where exactly is the the bottom of the bowl? Is it in the same general area I was talking about - go past the bathrooms / concession stand on the right and then go straight ahead into flat area at the bottom of the hill??? (Down towards the fence by the other motocross track?)

Please clarify. Thanks!

The bowl is the lowest part of the property. After you crest the hill coming in to the track, the spot I'm referring to is directly behind the stands on the finish line straight. If you stop on the top of the hill, look down and to your left.

It's before you get to the showers/concession stand.

Dave...so how come you can't make it?
I don’t know, I’ve sat here wondering the same question, maybe making reasons why I can’t.
I did just land a contract to construct a garage addition, my first big contract in 7 months.
I am in the interview and background process for a Deputy position, yes I’m forty years old but It is a life long dream.
I haven’t discussed it with the wife.
I don’t know where it is, though I’m sure I can find it.
These are valid but sorry excuses. Oh, … I don’t have a thing to wear!

Ok, if I go…
How do I get there?
What are the arrangements re. FOOD??? (I’ll bring it, and cook for everyone, but what are the arrangements???)
Where is everyone staying?
Cost, entry, dining (if we don’t eat at there), camping? (is that what everyone is doing?)….???
Did I ask about the food??? :p
When is everyone meeting there?
What did I forget to ask???
I’ll bring my son, not the wife. That way we can have fun!
I guess I will bring this up tonight at dinner…Hey Hon…was thinking of taking Aryn camping this weekend…yea, with the bikes… ;)
Will Gomer wear a hat over that mop? :p

I’ll get back to ya
You get back to me on some of these details, …been looking for a reason to leave the wife. :scream:
I can't believe I'm actually thinking of going, yea I am!!!

Conversation at Japanese steak house:
'So honey, I’m thinking of going camping and riding with a bunch of guys I know from the Internet this weekend'...
Her, 'What'
'Ah, yea, it sounds real cool'
Her...'you're leaving me for another woman aren’t you?'
No, really it's just riding and camping. There might be a sheep there, but I don’t know her name.
Her, 'you don’t know her? Right!'
'Ok, we met after work but it's nothing serious'
Her, 'just go, go to your little...that dam little...sheep'
ME, 'OK, Yeaaaahooooo'

Yea, I'm nuts, just like to have fun

Julius,
Count me as a go; I will be bringing my son Aryn with me.
I guess we will be camping, is that what most are doing?
Now everyone gets to see that I ride like shi*
I can't wait to actually meet everyone. Anybody care to take a guess at travel time?
I think Aryn will have to skip school on Friday; he'll get a kick out of that.
Besides the Bikes, fuel, and camping gear, what should I bring?
FOOD, I know :p ...?
Dave

Hope Wraith doesn’t get mad I ate at a Japanese restaurant
