What's your riding weight to steed ratio?

I was doing a little cleaning in the garage and found an old digital scale - you know the bathroom variety.  I got to thinking that I could place it on the bike stand and weigh the bike.  I stepped on it 1st, and it registered a solid 214 lbs - pretty stinking close to the 213 at the doctors office 2 weeks ago.  I think the claim on my 96 Cr500 is 227 according to the manual.  So after rigging everything, I put the bike on and weighed it 3 times.  I got a solid 235 lbs, dry.  No tranny oil (inthe middle of changing it) and I drained the gas tank completely.  I do have a Renthal twinwall bar, aluminum throttle tube, FMF Gold Fatty pipe and FMF QII arrester.  Other than that, she's stock.  Oh yeah, I was cleaning the chain, so it wasn't on the bike (2 lbs or so??).

Next up, I grabbed my gear.  With boots, pants, shirt, helmet, gloves, goggles and me - 227 lbs.  I grabbed my CamelBak (MULE) with water and tools and did it again - 237.  That's close enough to a 1-1 ratio.  I'm glad I have a 5-hunny.

What's your ratio?

I've never stepped on the scales with my gear on. I'm afraid to. One of these days I need to put on all of my gear and ride my bike over to the cotton gin. I think me and my WR 400 weigh some where near 550 pounds.

hmmm . . . my goal is 1:1, but right now, Pred:Steed is probably (geared up) 1.14:1.

Alas, I will probably always weigh more than any bike I own, unless I get a KLR650

Well, using HMSs' figures as a benchmark, I'd still say the bike weighs more, but it's very close to 1:1. If I could get my weight down a few more pounds though I know it would be like a major H.P. boost!

Geared Weight = 172 lbs
Bike Dry Weight = 218 lbs (Honda's printed claim, not sure how accurate)

Ratio = 0.78

Thank god I ride a WR400. I'm 250 w/o gear so it's gotta be pretty close to 1:1 with gear on:( Hmmm, well over 500 lbs of combined mass - and people wonder why I don't jump?

not sure with gear on, afraid, might start thinking I'm fot or something. But, it's about 1:1, Honda says 257 dry on my XR400. Over 500lbs of mass and I still jump it, only bottomed hard once, and that was at about 35 mph on a drop-off hitting followed by a small rise.

Thanks guys. You're making me feel skinny again. Though I'm a few overweight, I'm still less than 200 w/gear. My ratio is probably about 0.8:1.

Could ya pass me that hot fudge sundae?

Rider 230: bike Rm 250 220= 1.05

Better ratio is horse power to weight

450lbs : 45hp = 10 or 10lbs for every one horse power, but I estimated the hp. 2002 Rm 250, v-force reeds and bills pipe and silencer.

who you calling skinny? seriously, I'm 6'4 150 pounds wet(probably 180 max with equipment) and I ride a 1996 yz250, so about 230 pounds (guessing) that would be... 0.78/1 :) (I dont know how to make the banana sign, but this is where it should be...)

I'm 151lbs without gear, probably around 165 with gear, my XR200R is supposed to weigh 220lbs dry, about 250lbs wet, so my weight with gear to bike ready to ride ratio is 165:250 = 0.66. Gear weight to dry weight ratio is 165:220 = 0.75. Back in the spring when I was riding 5 days a week and racing, my ratio was 0.628 for weight with gear to ready to ride bike. But the power to weight ratio isn't too great compared to other bikes.

me with boots and camelback and all my gear ~ 200

my ATK 125 dry is 227 wet is around 232 (dont know how much oil weighs, 5lbs should cover it right?). A gallon of gas weighs 6.12 lbs, my ATK has a 3.4 gallon tank so 20.8 pounds of fuel. that makes my bike around 252.8 punds on the starting line.

.7911

no wonder i suck so much, i have to navigate 453 pounds!
