Hey I am wondering about the quality of OEM parts for Yamahas I am curious as to the quality of there air filters, pistons and Connecting Rods. Also are Yamalube oils very good? What about there 2R racing oil? Are there any parts apart from bars and chains that you prefer to change to after market?

Any help much appreciated

I have used the Yamalube 2r for over 20 years. I have never had a reason to switch. The oil is almost a reasonable price and available everywhere. My engine also stays clean between rebuilds.

As far as the other items you mention, I have always replaced my stock pistons with weisco. Again, no real science for the switch other than to say they make a good piston at a reasonable price.

i ride a 02 yz250. i've used yamalube at 32:1 to 40:1 all that time. never any problems. then again, i don't rev real high. regarding pistons, i've gone with wiseco. some yamaha riders swear by OEM, i haven't had any problems. then again, i don't rev real high.
