Does anyone here have any experience with Tom Morgan Racing's KX327? Does it compare with the CRF450 or YZF450 in power? Does it retain the 250 handling? How does it compare to the the KX310 kit from Eric Gorr or TMR? Thanks !

I have never ridden the 327 but have ridden one of TMRs big bore KXs. It was ported more for top end than my 310 but was not a lot more powerful there. I think my friend said it cost him about $900. My big bore was half that and I didn't think the value was there in his bike. The 327 I think involves stroking the crank and would prolly be in the $2k range.

i would call it a massive explosion rather than a big bang! :p

i think expense of big bores goes up exponentially with the cc's and i am sure reliability and rebuild expenses get far out there also. eric will probably hook you up with an extra 60cc's for less than $500, is the extra 17 cc's worth $1500?

it's not so much the extra 17cc, but the crank gets stroked,
which brodens the powerband and torque range, according toTMR

fyi - Spoke email w/Tom Morgan today - he says the KX327 puts out over 60hp & 38 ft-lbs of torque, but does'nt quite have the torque down low like a 500 or 450 4-str, still an impressive output though

I woulf love to see the dyno chart of that-most BB dont produce much more Hp than a std size engine-they have more torque and a wider powerband.

is 53HP a bit modest for a factory 250?

since we are seeing reports (mods and performance thread) of an 02 yz250 with v-force, pipe and mild porting putting out 53hp on the dyno, and FMF claiming upto 50 HP with a similar bike with pipe and ignition. even the mags are saying 50HP on a stock 250SX. have we quickly reached the limits of precision on the test bed?

Bruce the 1st 8hp is easier to find-its the last few hp that are the hardest. It also depends on the spread of power-the factory Husky has about 53hp but it was too powerfull for Carl Nunn-he needed a switch on the ignition to calm it down for the last half a race.Ive seen a bike setup the same as Nunns at a local track and it was scary powerful.Any well tuned 250 will put out more power than most top riders can use. Those 4 strokes gain more on the spread of power and ease of control-i dont think they actually produce more HP.

Yes, but I goofed and left it at work I'll email it on monday - it only shows the torque curve in comparison to a 00yz426, but more everywhere across the rpm range
