1) I'm 6'1 and about 215-220lbs (it's all muscle :-))
2) actually, pretty cautious
3) fields/trails with friends. just like weekend rides, you know.
4) rode couple times: cr500 and ttr 22.... cant' remember
5) No racing
6) i'll most likely try to do my work myself (shop manuals...)
7) well, i got my eyes on used bikes: YZF-250 or other brand name and all 250-2strokes. i'm lookign at between 1996-2002 (green sticker for 2-strokes....don't you love cali?)
8) all brands dealers by my house
9) max US2,200
10) well, what do you think would fit my needs?

Big guy, i'd say go for a 250 2-stroke! a 125/250f wouldn't have the power your looking for, and 2-strokes are far less complicated than 4-strokes, i can do a lot of the maintenace myself and im only 15, and also the 2-strokes run a lot cheaper than the 4's, cheapest i can find a 250f of any brand is $3,000 USD, but 2-strokes can run from just above or under $2000 USD, and that price isn't too rare, that's the price my '01 cr 125 is goin for. So i say get the 250 2-stroke, you'll be happy with it, it's a big boy bike, haha

i've heard some different opinions on the 97' CR250's because of the new aluminum frame on those bikes. i guess it was a love/hate type of deal.

yz 99 and up, kx 99 and up, rm 02 and up, cr 02 and up, ktm 03 and up
for 2200 you can go wrong with a 250 2t. a used 250f would more than likely cause major headaches and cost more than the price of the bike to fix.

mi humilde opinion
