I was in row 2 of section 325. Good view of the first turn, and could see the whole track well. I like Ford Field better... much nicer facility, no long lines at the bathrooms, etc. Parking was fine if you know Detroit... we parked for free near the casino... just two blocks walk. (you get free parking by just walking into a casino and getting a pass) Plus the freeway wasn't a cluster like the Silverdome. There used to be Class A,B, and C racing for the amateurs back in the day in Ponticac, do they still have that?

While we were waiting for our hotel shuttle we watched everyone pouring out of the parking garage. What a mess!! Where were the real cops directing traffic??

We made it to Elwood's around 6pm, but after waiting 15-20 minutes for a table to open up, walked over to Ford Field to eat. I really hated doing that... I'd been thinking about an Elwood burger all week. Ended up spending $40 on some rude and overpriced stadium food :bang: ... I'll never do that again.

Parking can be ugly and expensive, but I know of some close spots that are free... or at least not patrolled by meter maids very well. The one nice thing is that you can jump on the freeway within a few minutes. I've waited in the Silverdome lot for up to an hour some years (didn't park in the right spot). I was home by 11:30pm this year.

Bringing the kids into the inner-city was an eye-opening experience for them. They're getting old enough now to see the difference between suburbia living versus the ghetto. Study hard, work hard, make good decisions was the take-away.

I missed being able to walk around the pits, but I think they'll do this again once they have the whole Ford Field logistics figured out. Even though the Silverdome is much bigger, I think the upper level seating is better there compared to Ford Field. The 'Dome had some pretty steep seats... it put you closer to the action... more on top of it. The seating at Ford Field is at a more gradual angle, so you're farther away. Attendance was light... only about 40,000 from what I read. The end-zones were mostly empty.

Racing was good behind Stewart.... although he was long gone after turn 1. He had the bunny hop down going across the rollers on the starting field.... most others had a little endo-bobble thing going on as they flew across.

When I watched the race on TV the other day, it kinda looked empty. They should stick with the general admission seating...then all of the seats would be full around the track.

I liked assigned seating. If you get up to go for a walk or the restroom you don't have to worry about some one taking your seats.

I think the attn problem was for 3 reasons.

1. $50 for seats was a little more than what casual SX fans are willing to pay. I think that brought attn down.
2. This was spring break week and lots of folks are outta town on vacation.
3. Parking is a PITA compared to Pontiac and some may have just stayed away. I think the place was more full of the more hard core fans and the casual fans that only go to the SX beacuse theres nothing else to do may have stayed away.

That's all true. We wanted the $50 seats, but could not afford them right now. $30 would have been better or something like that.

The 50 dollar tickets I feel where not really worth it, but glad I went. I got my ticket at the dealer here in town, and they said they where sold out of the rest and that other dealers where selling out, if I would have know it to be somewhat empty there I would have got the 20 ones. Maybe next year they will do things differently.
